What is the definition of beautiful? Your definition of beauty may not match mine. I define beauty as something which makes me feel good and happy. What I feel good about will be completely different from what you feel good about.
Now lets move from it (a object) to a him/her (human). I don’t know about all, but I think a human becomes beautiful to me for their personality and confidence. A confident personality comes from self acceptance. We need to accept our external appearance and focus on how we are as a human being.
Me coming from a similar situation can totally relate to how dificult it is to accept yourself when the numbers of fingers pointing towards you for some flaw on your external appearance are too many.
So, let me tell you my case. I have this quite prominent dark brown birth mark covering almost half of my left cheek. Wait, there is another one. I do not have a perfect set of teeth, I have two canines which looks very similar to ones, vampires have.
Though I am not very concerned and do not consider these two factor as a huge problem in my life. Trust me, I have more substantiate matters in my life to be concerned about. All my life people have been pointing out those to me letting me know that how kind they are that they spent their precious time reminding me that I need to do something about these two huge problem of mine as appearance matters the most. But the reality was, I always wanted to tell them that I know I have those,I look at them everyday, its my face, I know that better than anybody else, you don’t need to tell me. Honestly, I would be lying if I say, it did not bothrr me at all. I did used to feel a complex. I wanted to rub that mark off my face. I tried to be carefull to smile in such a way that my teeth do not show.
But, as I grew up I started noticing that there are and were people who thought these “flaws” of mine are actually beautiful. Someone said I had a beautiful smile, someone said my birthmark is mark of good luck. Your outer appearance does not make you pretty, your inner person makes you one. Your so called outer appearance makes you pretty for a short period of time. But your inner beauty makes you beautiful for lifetime.
So, focus on your inner beauty because that is in your hands. Be confident about your outer appearance. You are beautiful. You are one in billions. Accept yourself the way you are. Don’t let people decide how you look. People’s judgements are not going to take you anywhere. What matters most is how ypu feel about yourself. If you think you are beautiful, you are beautiful.
In Japan, broken objects are often repaired with gold. The flaw is seen as an unique piece of the object’s history, which adds to its beauty.
